They'll have enhanced health and safety procedures in place at both attractions, so never fear. **SEA LIFE New Jersey Aquarium and LEGOLAND Discovery Center New Jersey will officially open 6/15!

Merlin Entertainments Ltd (Merlin), the second largest attraction operator in the world, today announced New Jersey SEA LIFE® Aquarium, a 25,000-square-foot aquarium, and LEGOLAND® Discovery Center New Jersey, the ultimate indoor LEGO® playground for families, will open in June 15, 2021 at the revolutionary American Dream in East Rutherford, NJ. Both under-construction attractions were on track to debut in spring 2020, however, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, opening dates were shifted to implement safety measures in accordance with current state guidelines.

“The health of our guests, staff and sea creatures is of utmost importance and we are taking every step to prepare for a safe and exciting opening next year,” said General Manager, Camille DePascale. “Our number one priority is to create fun and educational experiences for families at New Jersey SEA LIFE Aquarium and LEGOLAND Discovery Center New Jersey, all within a safe and comfortable environment.”
SEA LIFE New Jersey’s unique “City Under The Sea” theme will feature more than 10 interactive exhibits inspired by the area’s most memorable landmarks and experiences. Visitors will experience the creatures of the rock pool that are the ‘Athletes of the Shores,’ seahorses that are the ‘Ballet Dancers of the Ocean,’ piranhas that are the ‘Wall Street Wolves,’ jellies that are the ‘Disco DJs of the Deep,’ and more. The aquarium’s featured experience is an underwater tunnel with panoramic views of ‘fishified’ Manhattan landmarks set amidst schools of tropical fish, sharks, rays and more.

In total, SEA LIFE New Jersey will be home to more than 3,000 creatures, with approximately 75-100 different species of fish and invertebrates from local and international waters. The attraction will also offer enlightening talks and feeding demonstrations, behind-the-scenes tours, and more, allowing guests to interact directly with some of the most fascinating creatures on Earth.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center New Jersey is the ultimate indoor LEGO playground that will offer fun, highly interactive, and educational experiences for families with children aged 3-10. The Center will feature a range of exciting LEGO play experiences including a LEGO themed train ride, 4D cinema, LEGO building classes hosted by the Master Model Builder, MINILAND™ a LEGO re-creation of NJ and NYC landmarks, plus several themed interactive build and play zones. LEGOLAND Discovery Center is the perfect destination for 2-3 hours of indoor play year-round.
Both attractions will follow the local safety regulations in place when opening in the summer of 2021. The attractions are prepared to limit capacity, ensure social distancing through various signage and monitoring staff, and require face coverings or masks to be worn by staff and guests. Enhanced cleaning measures will also be implemented throughout the day to clean and sanitize the attractions including high-frequency touchpoints, play areas, and at LEGOLAND Discovery Center, the LEGO bricks.
