Looking for a fun winter day trip idea? Or a fun winter getaway? Just because Hersheypark is closed for the season doesn't mean you can't still enjoy some good times (and lower resort rates!) in Hershey, Pennsylvania! ZooAmerica is open year round, and they have a great offer for the remainder of January. Weekends are free for kids ages 8 and under! Read on for more info!

Disclosure: This information and photos come directly from the ZooAmerica press release. I am a proud member of the Hershey's Sweetest Families Panel, so it's my duty to bring you valuable Hershey info like this! Weekends in January, kids ages 8 and under can explore ZooAmerica for FREE on Saturdays and Sundays as part of Discovery Weekends. Each weekend, guests can participate in special animal enrichment activities focused on a specific animal group from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The remaining two weekends focus on the following North American animals:

January 18th & 19th: Birds

January 25th & 26th: Wolves

For a second year, the Zoo is also bringing back Sensory Friendly Morning on Saturday, January 25th. Guests with any sensory needs can experience ZooAmerica with modified exhibits, calming rooms and special animal encounters throughout the day.

In general, Winter is a great time to visit ZooAmerica because there are typically less crowds and the North American animals are more active. Anyone with a 2020 ZooAmerica Annual Pass can enjoy unlimited year-round visits to the Zoo. 2020 Hersheypark Season Pass holders also get into the Zoo for free. For more fun events at ZooAmerica, check out their Programs and Events Page.
