Build a Better Easter Basket: Egg Filling Ideas, Gifts and More!

Monday, April 1, 2019
Coming up with ideas for your child's Easter basket can be challenging. Sounds silly, but it's true. The Easter Bunny needs to step up his game year after year! So I thought I'd search around for some fun finds to help you build a better Easter basket this year. Take a look at what I've come up with!

This post contains Amazon Affiliate links, which doesn't mean anything, really, because I am totally honest and would not recommend stuff to you that I didn't love myself. But the internet laws insist I must tell you that the links are in here, and that you can read more about them on my disclosure page. Got it? Good. Onward! Here's one of my first fun finds for your Easter basket.

Sago Mini

I had the great pleasure of discovering Sago Mini at Toy Fair New York. Many families know them from their adorable apps, but now they have some awesome toys and books based on the apps, too. The good folks at Sago Mini sent me some samples of their toy line and I loved them SO much I just had to share with you.  First, they sent me a box o' plushies, better known as the Sago Mini Small Plush Gift Pack.

The box contains four high-quality, brightly colored stuffed animals (about 6" each). They're based on the app characters, so you'll find Jinja cat, Harvey dog, Robin birdie and Jack bunny.

So maybe you're thinking, what's so great about a box of plushies? Yes, they're cute, but there's more! They come in a box that transforms into a house!! Look!

How cool is that? And your kiddos can decorate the house with crayons or stickers or whatever. I just love that. So now you've got a storage space and a play space all in one for these little guys. My other favorite find from Sago Mini that would look SO cute in an Easter basket is their portable playsets. This one is called Jinja's House (but there are other themed playsets and they range in price- see some of my Amazon picks below).

The entire thing unfolds into a little house, and has colorful, durable pieces placed inside the house. It comes with furniture, small accessories and  two characters - Jinja and Rosie. You can even put little cups in their hands!

Much like the plushies, this set is entirely self-contained. You can take all of the little pieces and fold it up inside the house, to be carried away anywhere you want!

You can watch this little video we made of Jinja's House unboxing, because seriously, the pictures don't do it justice!

Mrs. Grossman's

You might remember Mrs. Grossman's stickers if you were a child of the 1980's. I hold them so near and dear to my heart! Nowadays they have some really cool products for kids, and one of our favorites is the Kaleidoscope set. It's almost like a paint by numbers with stickers! You just match the stickers up with the numbers to form a beautiful picture.

Wouldn't they look cool tucked in an Easter basket? Or how about adding some of the stickers to your Easter eggs?

Toobs and More from Safari Ltd.

You might have seen these little Toobs from Safari Ltd. in your travels. I love the choices they offer and the colorful figures inside. They make a great addition to Easter baskets or even inside Easter eggs because they're small!  Choose your child's favorite theme and you're good to go! I love the backyard birds set because they kind of remind me of Spring and Summer, too. They're very high quality, and something I totally would have wanted to collect as a kid.

Safari Ltd. also makes an entire line of high quality figures, from barn animals, to fantasy creatures like their dragon collection. Check out this Happy Dragon! I named him Simon Snowdragon, because he arrived the day before a huge blizzard hit our state. But they have other, more realistic dragons in their line, too.

He looks cute in an Easter basket, right?

Safari Ltd. creates awesome toys that teach.  Many of you know that we raise monarch butterflies in the summer (you can check out my tutorial post about that here), so I loved this monarch butterfly life cycle set.

I'm thinking that an entire science-themed Easter basket would be really cool!

Other Easter Egg Filling Ideas

If you're still stuck for ideas, here's a list of items you could include inside Easter eggs, other than candy.
