1. Get Comfortable

You’re going to be spending several hours on the couch, so make sure you’re comfortable! Get some pillows and blankets and make yourself a little nest. If you want to get really cozy, consider getting an air mattress and making a fort! Forts are not just for kids, and they add a fun twist to your movie night ambiance. It’s not quite the same as going to the movies, but it can be just as fun.

2. Make Some Popcorn

No movie is complete without popcorn! You can make it the old-fashioned way or get creative and add some flavor to it. If you are adventurous, Peeps popcorn is a must-try! Microwave popcorn is simple and fast. Add some salt and melted butter, or seasonal items like candy corn and M&M's. Share a bowl or make individual bowls to customize your snacks! There are so many different ways to make popcorn, so find a recipe that you like and get cooking.

3. Pick Your Movie Before the Date Night

You don’t want to spend half your date night trying to decide which movie to watch. Have each person pick out a few movies that they’d like to watch, then narrow it down from there. It’s always good to have a few options so that you can find something you both agree on. If you’re really struggling to find a movie, consider looking up lists of the best romantic comedies or action movies. Never Heard movie is a great choice for your next movie date night!

4. Use a Projector

If you want to make your movie date night extra special, consider using a projector. You can usually find them online or at electronics stores. It’s definitely worth the investment if you want to have a more  authentic movie date night. Projectors are perfect for watching movies on a bigger screen, and  they make you feel like you’re really at the movies without ever leaving your home! If you don’t want to purchase a projector, consider renting one from a friend or family member.

5. Take the Date Outside

If you have a backyard or patio, you can take your movie date night outside. It’s a great way to change up the scenery and get some fresh air. Bring blankets and pillows to stay warm and cozy, and add some lanterns or string lights for a soft glow. You might also want to bring some snacks so that you don’t have to go inside during the movie. If it gets too cold, just move the date indoors. But take advantage of that good weather while you can!

6. Re-create the Theater Experience with Surround Sound

One of the best parts of going to the movies is the surround sound. You can re-create that experience at home by investing in a good sound system. If you don’t want to spend too much money, you can always look for a used sound system. Search garage sales, ebay or Craigslist for the best deals or unwanted sound systems. A good sound system will make your movie date night feel authentic, and it's a good investment if you plan in having future movie date nights at home.

7. Decorate Your Living Room

If you want to make your movie date night extra special, consider decorating your living room. You can put up some lights, candles, and even streamers. Just a few simple decorations can make a big difference in ambiance. You can even try to decorate the room in theme with the movie you're watching (such as beach items for Jaws, or space themed decor for Star Wars).

8. Play a Movie Game

Make your movie date night more interactive by playing a movie game. Pinterest is a great source for free game printables like movie Bingo, trivia questions and more. This is especially good for the partner who tends to fall asleep during the movie, since a game helps to keep them awake and focused! Add a fun twist and make it a competition. The winner gets to pick the next date night movie!

Movie date nights are a great way to connect with your partner, and spending them at home helps to save money and stay comfortable in your own space.
