The Kitchen at Bed Bath & Beyond: Must Try Cooking Classes, Parties, Camps, and More!

Friday, June 7, 2019
I was recently invited to try out a cooking class at The Kitchen at Bed Bath & Beyond, a brand new 'kitchen experience'  (since it's more than just cooking classes) at their East Hanover, New Jersey location. What exactly is The Kitchen, you ask? Well, read on and let me show you!

**Please note that The Kitchen at Bed Bath and Beyond in East Hanover is currently closed. If this changes I will be back to update this post!

Disclosure: I was provided a cooking demo class in exchange for an honest review. But what do I always tell you? I would not recommend something to you unless I totally loved it myself! So rest assured, this was a pretty cool experience all around!!

I am proud to feature The Kitchen at Bed, Bath and Beyond on my Local Business Spotlight Page. More businesses will continuously be featured, so please check back and help support your New Jersey neighbors!

What is The Kitchen at Bed Bath & Beyond?

The Kitchen is Bed Bath & Beyond’s exciting new kitchen experience at their East Hanover location.
It's located at the back of the store in its own private area (and let me tell you something, this is an awesome Bed Bath & Beyond. It had an entire market food section, and is completely remodeled and fresh. There was even an area where you could sample K-Cup coffees for free! But more on that in a minute).

At The Kitchen, you can prepare amazing meals with the guidance of  chefs and instructors while using top-of-the-line appliances, cookware, electrics, knives, and gadgets (kind of like a 'try before you buy' experience. But don't worry, there are no sales pitches or anything).

They offer cooking and baking classes (and demos), kids' summer camps (scroll down for a camp coupon code!), kid's classes and birthday parties, professional workshops, corporate team building, and private parties.

What Kinds of Classes Does The Kitchen Offer?

Classes vary each month, so be sure to check their schedule to see what's new. They offer hands-on cooking classes, demo classes, kids' classes, corporate and private events, birthday parties, camps, and so much more! It's a great idea for girl scout troops, cub scouts, and Girls Night Out, too. Looking for a fun gift experience? You can also purchase a gift certificate on their website! To give you an idea of some of the classes they offer, here's a sampling of some prior lessons:

  • Cast Iron Cooking
  • Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
  • Summer Salads
  • Lunch and Learn - Quick and Healthy Shrimp Entrees
  • Spanish Tapas
  • Canasta Tournament and Lunch
  • Easy Entertaining at Home

There seems to be a little something for everyone each month!

What is a Class at The Kitchen Like?

I really enjoyed the Summer Salads Demo Class wit Chef Kathleen Sanderson. I like cooking, but I'm not overly confident in the kitchen. So watching someone else cook in front of me, sharing all of the tips, answering questions- that was exactly what I needed! I walked away feeling like I had learned a lot (and totally stuffed from everything that I ate!!). I didn't have to worry about doing all of the work and could just relax, take notes and enjoy the class. But don't worry, they have plenty of hands-on classes, too. You can choose the class that is right for you!

The Kitchen provided us with aprons, and everything was set up in advance for our demo class. They even offered us a lovely selection of snacks before hand. You are also permitted to BYOB, so if you're attending the class for Date Night or Girls Night Out, this is an awesome option.

We were provided with a printed booklet of the recipes we were learning about so we could take them home with us. We were also given a 20% off coupon to use in the store afterwards (good for our entire purchase!). Chef Kathleen was funny, personable, and a wonderful instructor. Her assistant Lynn was also great to work with.

Our Summer Salads Class at The Kitchen

We learned how to make five amazing dishes, and this is quite an accomplishment because although I like salad, it's not my favorite. I chose this class hoping to come away with some new ideas and a better knowledge of salad making, and I certainly did! I definitely want to try making these myself.

-Quinoa & Goat Cheese Cakes/Spring Greens
-Black Bean & Mango Salsa w/ Grilled Pork Tenderloin
-Mediterranean Faro Salad
-Chopped Kale & Sweet Potato Caesar Salad
-Lemon Curd Berry & Sweet Biscuits

Check out this little two minute walk-through video I made on YouTube about our experience at The Kitchen! You can see all of the photos of our meals there, too.

Our class lasted about two and a half hours, and we really enjoyed shopping around in the store afterwards (we had to walk off all of the food we ate!). Due to regulations you cannot take food out of The Kitchen with you, so we were able to enjoy everything we made right in The Kitchen itself. No doggie bags, sorry!

Coupon Code for Summer Camps!

The Kitchen offers some really fun summer camps for kids, and for a limited time, you can use this special online promo code to get $50 off any camp purchase! The camps are for ages 7 all the way up to tweens and teens, so look at their online course selection to find the camp that's right for your child (or view some of them below). Use code thejerseymomma for $50 off!

Bed Bath & Beyond East Hanover

I can't end without saying how awesome this Bed Bath & Beyond location was. They provided us with a 20% off coupon to use in the store after our class (good for our entire purchase), and I was really eager to shop around here! They had a complete marketplace, tons of decorative items, summer goodies, electrics, appliances, supplies, cooking tools and more! I also liked some of the items they used in our class. No one pushed us to buy them, but because they were used in the class, I was able to see how they would function in my own kitchen.
