Toyota Offers Something for Everyone at 2019 New York International Auto Show

Saturday, April 20, 2019
Let's go places is one of Toyota's signature catch phrases, and they sure do mean what they say! At the 2019 New York International Auto Show, Toyota offers up a vast selection of shiny models, from sleek concept cars to reliable family vehicles. No matter what your travel plans are, it seems that Toyota has a vehicle that can take you there. Read on and you'll see!

Disclosure: I attended a media event called Girls Night Out at the 2019 New York International Auto Show, which was sponsored by A Girls Guide to Cars and Toyota, but all opinions are my own. I happen to drive a Toyota myself, and I absolutely love it. I've had it since 2006, and at my last New Jersey state car inspection, I asked the attendant if my car passed. 'Of course it did,' he said with a smile, 'it's a Toyota.'  True story!!!

I'd be here all day if I described every car that Toyota had on the show floor this year. Their selection is huge! So I picked out a few eye-catching favorites and highlighted them below. You can visit the New York International Auto Show now through April 28th to see them yourself! You can also visit the Toyota website to view their entire line of vehicles and find a local dealer.

Highlander/Highlander Hybrid

The Highlander is the perfect mix of style, sportiness and dependability. It's perfect for families or for people on the go (it seats up to 8 people). The Highlander Hybrid can even tow up to 3500 pounds when properly equipped. It is front and center at New York International Auto Show for a reason- everyone seemed impressed by its style and it is definitely a show favorite.

C-HR

I have to be honest. I didn't expect to fall in love with the C-HR, but I did. I saw it sitting on the show floor and it was calling my name. My first car was a Toyota Celica GT, dark blue, and this sweetie sure did remind me of her! I loved the sportiness of it, as well as the fun colors (like Blizzard Pearl and Blue Flame) and Apple CarPlay ability.

RAV4 Hybrid

Whenever I mention Toyota to someone, the RAV4 is one of the first cars they ask about. Everyone loves the RAV4! But the RAV4 Hybrid has advanced innovations as well as hybrid efficiency. What more can one ask for?

Sienna

Ah, this is the minivan of your dreams! Sporty and sleek, it's the only minivan with AWD (All Wheel Drive), which means you'll be prepared for less than ideal driving conditions!

Mirai

Toyota clearly has a commitment to excellence (check out all of those awards!), and the Mirai is a clear example of this. Mirai is a FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle) and is powered by hydrogen. Its only emission is water. It has an EPA- estimated driving range of 312 miles!

Avalon Hybrid

There are two things that stood out for me right off the bat about the Avalon Hybrid (well, three, if you count that it's a hybrid). One is that it gets an EPA-estimated 44 highway mpg (wow!) and two is that it's made in Kentucky. It also has Amazon Alexa connectivity available. It's a sophisticated looking vehicle, very sleek with a luxury feel to it.

Supra Prototypes

As soon as I posted photos of these Supra prototypes on social media, people went bonkers! And with good reason. They were stunning. My father owned two different Supra models many years ago, and they were both awesome cars that I will never forget. These updated versions were gorgeous!! They are fifth generation Supras, and are "almost back" on the market, according to some reports on the internet. These prototypes were released to let us know the Supra is making a comeback. When? Stay tuned to find out!

4Runner/4Runner TRDPro

The 4Runner has been described as "one of the toughest SUV's on the planet," and I'd have to say I agree. It has a powerful V6 engine and a tough body-on-frame platform. It has off-road capability for all those adventure seekers out there. There's also plenty of storage space for camping or roaming, with available fold-flat second row seats and sliding rear cargo deck.

Straight from the source, here's what Toyota says about the 4Runner and the 4Runner TRDPro (pictured below): "The new Nightshade Special Edition will offer Limited buyers a sleek, sporty package accented with black features that include 20-inch black wheels, black bumper and grille accents, and black interior trim on the steering wheel, center cluster, console panels and shifter, just to name a few. The 4Runner TRD Pro returns in 2019 with an all-new suspension package that includes 2.5-inch Fox Internal Bypass Shocks for impressive off-road performance that doesn’t sacrifice on-road handling."

Not to Be Forgotten: Tacoma and Tundra

The Tundra is both tough and durable, with a 38 gallon fuel tank, and its assembled in Texas. It has a 5.7L i-FORCE V8 engine that offers up to 10,200 pounds of towing capacity (look, it's even carrying a quad!). Tundra TRD Pro features new Fox Internal Bypass shocks at all four corners, Rigid Industries fog lights, and new forged aluminum BBS wheels. Ain't it pretty?

The Tacoma has been leading the mid-size market in sales for 12 straight years. It comes in 32 different configurations (that's a lot of choices) and is both affordable and rugged. Read more about it here.

Concept Cars

And for the dreamers out there, be sure to check out Toyota's cool concept cars and miniature robot, who are there to remind you that Toyota continues to dream big. There are always new ideas on the horizon!
