Check Out Callie's Charleston Biscuits and How She Rolls with Carrie Morey!

Monday, May 3, 2021
Carrie Morey, an entrepreneur and mom who launched Callie's Hot Little Biscuit more than 15 years ago, now has her own lifestyle and culinary documentary series on PBS called How She Rolls. I am sooo excited about this, because I had a chance to meet Carrie (and BAKE with her!!)

You see, a few years ago, I was honored to experience biscuit making first-hand with Carrie Morey, the amazing woman behind Callie's Hot Little Biscuit and Callie's Charleston Biscuits while attending The Fancy Food Show in New York City. What fun it was!! Read on to learn about Carrie, her business, her amazing biscuits and her brand new show on PBS.
Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post. Carrie and her team were kind enough to let me try my hand at biscuit making during The Fancy Food Show. I purchased Carrie's cookbook and biscuit making kit on my own to try it out, 'cause that's how much I loved them! You can also read an older post I wrote about Carrie's awesome foods here.

If you're lucky enough to live in one of their locations (currently North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and roving food trucks), you can visit Callie's Hot Little Biscuit and try some of Carrie's masterpieces for yourself. But don't fret if you're not near one of her eateries- you can make Callie's Biscuits at home, too!

Callie's Charleston Biscuits are fully cooked and frozen, so when you are ready to use them, you just pop them in the oven. They're great for cocktail parties, hors d'oeuvres, or even with breakfast. I was amazed by how buttery and southern they tasted! A lot of work goes into making those biscuits by hand- I know because I tried it!

The secret is in folding that dough, over and over again by hand! It's a lot of work but worth the effort!

Callie's Biscuits come in a variety of flavors, including:

-buttermilk
-cheese and chive
-country ham
-cinnamon
-sweet potato
-iced blueberry (my favorite!! I make special trips to my local Kings or Fresh Market Supermarket for these!)
-cocktail ham
-sharp cheddar

You can also purchase Callie's Buttermilk Biscuit Mix, if you want to try your hand at it yourself.

How She Rolls

I'm even more excited to tell you that Carrie is now the star of her own lifestyle and documentary series called How She Rolls, which details her everyday life as a mom and successful entrepreneur. You can watch How She Rolls on PBS nationwide (check your local listings) or find it on the PBS app or at PBS.org. You can stream PBS through Amazon and Apple, so it should be a piece of cake (or a piece of biscuit?) to watch!

Many thanks to the lovely ladies at Callie's for 'coaching' me in biscuit making! You can find Callie's Homemade Biscuits in many food specialty stores and supermarkets, or find them online at www.CalliesBiscuits.com.
