Easy Homemade Brownies from Scratch

Thursday, August 19, 2021
I have the best, easiest homemade brownie recipe for you. From scratch. I swear these are better than boxed mix brownies! Once you try them you'll never want to go back to the packaged mixes, trust me.

This is my go-to brownie recipe because it's easy and it tastes amazing. Not only that, you can make them with minimal mess. Still not convinced? Well, you can always pin them for later, but trust me, you have to try them. They're perfect for picnics, parties or anything in between. You can cut them bite-sized or into big chunks, however you prefer. Scroll below for a printable version of this recipe, too.

You Will Need:

2 cups (a 12oz package) of chocolate chips, divided
3 large eggs
1 stick of butter, cut into chunks
1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

1. Grease a 13x9 inch baking pan and preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Melt only 1 cup of the chocolate chips and butter in a heavy duty sauce pan over low heat. Put the other cup of chocolate chips aside for later. Stir continuously over low heat until smooth and melted.(do not make the flame too hot, otherwise you will scorch the chips). Remove from heat.

3. Stir in eggs, flour, sugar, baking soda and vanilla extract. Batter will be somewhat thick and dry looking at first, but keep stirring till smooth. Stir in the remaining cup of chocolate chips when batter is smooth.

4. Spread into your pre-sprayed baking dish.

5. Bake for 18-22 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. This will vary between ovens, so just keep checking them and do not allow edges to burn. They take about 20 minutes in my oven.

Allow to cool completely (if you can wait that long). Cut into squares or bite sized pieces. Enjoy!

*if you prefer your brownies with nuts, add 1/2 cup of chopped nuts when you add the second cup of chocolate chips

*you can change up the flavor of these brownies a bit by altering the chips! Try making them with one cup dark chocolate chips, one cup milk chocolate chips, or peanut butter and milk chocolate chips. Yummy!
