More Cookie Decorating with Sweet Dani B

Monday, October 26, 2015
You might recall me writing about Sweet Dani B in the past, praising her amazing cookie decorating skills and fun workshops.  I was fortunate enough to attend her Summer Cookie Decorating Workshop in Asbury Park, as well as previous Valentine and Christmas workshops in Flemington.  She never ceases to amaze me.  Take a look at the fun we had during Sweet Dani B's Halloween 15 Monster Mania Cookie Workshop at Porta Pizzeria in Asbury Park, New Jersey.  Then make some plans to attend one of Dani's workshops  yourself!

If you've never attended a Sweet Dani B Cookie Decorating Workshop, you're missing out (I've said that before, and it's so true).  Dani has a way with kids (she's like the Pied Piper of cookie decorating!) and they love to swarm around her while she's working (only a master cookie decorator can decorate with one hand while a child is hanging on your other arm!).  But she's equally good with adults and everyone in between.

Dani is an entrepreneur and Emmy-Award winning set and prop stylist.  Her business, Sweet Dani B, is all about celebrating life's special occasions.  She can design one-of-a-kind cookies, paper goods and invitations.  You can visit her on her website, find her on social media, or check out one of her many DIY videos on YouTube.  You might recognize her from television shows such as Martha Stewart, Meredith Vieira and Steve Harvey.  Aside from all of that, Dani is just an awesome person.  Fun, funky and sweet, just like her cookies!

So what's a cookie decorating workshop all about?

In clear, easy steps, Dani showed us how to decorate three different shaped cookies using her signature bottles (pre-filled with royal icing in four colors), a spatula, and candy (there must ALWAYS  be candy!).  It was awesome to have everything already supplied.  Our places were already set with our names and our own kits to use during the class (you can buy your own from Dani if you really like her kits).

Dani made me a special pink monster cookie!  How lucky am I??

Dani even supplied us with a little cardboard pizza box to take our creations home in.  We had about an hour ride back to our house from Asbury Park, and the cookies transported perfectly!

Is it difficult to decorate those cookies??

Nope!!  Dani demos each cookie design first, in fairly basic steps.  She shows you different techniques (like faux bois and marbelizing) to help give your cookies some 'extra flair.' Then she gives you a chance to try your own.

Can anyone decorate cookies at Sweet Dani B's workshops?

Dani's workshops vary in theme (usually holiday related). She holds all different kinds of workshops for various ages, so be sure to check who she suggests each class is for when  you are registering.  We attended our workshops at Porta Pizzeria in Asbury Park, but she holds them in various locations, so be sure to check out her schedule for more details.

I've attended four Sweet Dani B Cookie Decorating Workshops, and each one has been unique and fun.  I actually recommend taking more than one if you can swing it.  I even found that my skills improved each time.

Does Dani sell her own cookies at workshops?

If you're lucky, yes!  Sometimes she will sell her own packaged cookies and bottle kits.  I wound up buying four cookies during our last workshop.  It was so hard to choose from these incredible designs!

Where can I sign up for a Sweet Dani B Cookie Decorating Workshop?

Check Dani's workshop page on her website, or follow her on Facebook for the latest info on classes, ticket prices, workshops, videos and more.

The Jersey Momma's finished cookies from Sweet Dani B's workshop.  Not too shabby, eh?

Many of Dani's designs are available as cookie cutters through CopperGifts.  I own some of them personally (the monster is my favorite!!) and they are amazingly good quality and even make nice decorations on a shelf, just by themselves!

Many thanks to Dani for another amazing workshop!!  We'll be back!!
