Fancy Food Show Spotlight on: Bakerly (and a Giveaway)!

I've been talking about my visit to The Fancy Food Show in New York for months now. There are so many great products out there, and so many yummy things to tell you about! I keep writing about them not because someone paid me to, but because I want to share them with you. Haven't you ever tried something and wanted to tell your friends all about it? Well, that's how I feel about some of the great brands I've tried. I'm so happy to see new choices out there, ones that are better choices for my family, offering no preservatives, no additives, no GMO's. One of them in particular is called Bakerly. Read all about them in today's post, and don't forget to enter my contest to win some free Bakerly products of your own!

What is Bakerly?

I first met the good folks of Bakerly at The New York Fancy Food Show, and I immediately fell in love with their yummy samples and pretty much their entire booth, which looked like an adorable country market.

Bakerly at The Fancy Food Show in New York City

Bakerly is a company started by two friends named Julien and Fabian, both from Brittany, in the North West of France. Their goal (according to their website) was to 'convince American consumers that crepes, brioches and other traditional French products deserved a place in every American household.'  Even better, Bakerly creates their products with quality ingredients. You can read all about them here.  Just take a look at the side of their petit sponge cake box!

YES, Bakerly!!  Thank you!!!

Quite an improvement from my son's General Mills cereal box, which has a message on it saying, 'partially produced with genetic engineering.' If you're unsure what GMO's are, or why people don't want GMO's in their food, check out this article about GMO's and why non-GMO's seem to be a healthier choice for families.

Bakerly's Products

When I was a kid I loved snack cakes, desserts, and pretty much anything sweet. That really hasn't changed. But sadly, the ingredients they put in a lot of store-bought sweet treats has. I am so tired of picking up a product in a store that has a list of chemical ingredients ten miles long! Bakerly has created some unique treats with quality ingredients, and that's why I think you need to know about them. Bakerly's product line includes crepes (chocolate and strawberry filled), crunchy crepes, chocolate croissants, mini chocolate chunk brioches, and petit sponge cakes (apricot, strawberry or chocolate). They also launched a family line of brioche buns, baguettes, rolls, and breads, too!

Aren't they just the cutest little cakes ever?? I can't even express to you how awesome these are for lunch boxes, picnic baskets or snacks on the go. Each one is individually wrapped, so you can just pack them and go (that's exactly why I included them in my post, 9 Exciting Snacks to Liven Up Your Lunchbox, too).

The chocolate croissants are flaky and delicious, great for a mid-morning treat...

The mini brioches (if you've never had a brioche, it's like a little bread bun, and this one has chocolate chunks in it) are so tasty and would be wonderful with a little flavored butter or cream cheese (or just enjoy them plain). A part of me wondered if I could slice them up and make mini french toast with them, but I haven't tried it yet...hmmm...

The petit sponge cakes are as delicious as they are adorable. They come in a choice of three flavors: chocolate, strawberry or apricot filled (I wasn't too sure about apricot, but that flavor actually turned out to be my  favorite next to chocolate!). I love that they are individually wrapped, and like their other products, contain no preservatives, no artificial flavoring and no artificial coloring. Non-GMO, too!!

And lastly, Bakerly is one of the only companies I can think of off the top of my head that makes individually wrapped crepes that are perfect for lunchboxes and snacks. I've never seen anything quite like these. I've seen refrigerated crepes that you heat up, and plain crepes that you can fill yourself, but these are a unique concept with a delicious flavor. Very innovative indeed!

Where Can I Find Bakerly?

Bakerly is popping up in stores all over the United States. If you are in New Jersey, you can find them at some local H-Marts, Kings Markets, Shop Rite, health food markets and more. Use their online store locator to find them in a shop near you, or use your incredibly important influence as a shopper and tell your local supermarket that you want them to stock Bakerly today!

Spot, The Jersey Doggy, loves Bakerly petit sponge cakes. Not for you, Spotty!

Other Ideas for Bakerly Products

Okay, so you know I already mentioned that Bakerly products are great for lunchboxes, snack bags and picnics, but they also make cute gifts. Pop a couple of these in a cute gift bag or tin and you have a sweet, French-inspired treat! They make great gifts for Teacher Appreciation Day or even for a friend who might not be feeling well. I made this for a friend of mine who just had surgery (see the play on words there? I'm not sure if Bakerly would approve, but my friend thinks it's funny...)  I made the tag using Bakerly's adorable graphics, too!

Disclaimer: I received a free box of Bakerly goodies in exchange for an honest blog post. But just so you know, I would never try to convince you to buy or eat something that I didn't totally love myself.

  1. I haven't tried them before. They don't look like the highest quality product, but that's why I'm interested in trying them and judging for myself. I love pastries and snacks, especially chocolate ones, so these could be right up my alley.

    1. Thanks for commenting, Kayley! Nothing beats homemade treats, in all honesty, but when it comes to pre-packaged goodies (which I often need for lunchboxes, picnics and snacks), I would rather choose something like this than some of the other choices out there on the market. I am looking at the ingredients on the box of petit sponge cakes right now and there isn't anything I can't identify or pronounce. I think these guys really put a lot of effort into making a quality product. I hope you'll give them a shot! I've enjoyed everything they sent and I can attest to the taste and quality. Thanks for visiting!
